Fire & Gas Engineer
Assignment Duration: Multi-year
Location: Anchorage-based with some travel to the North Slope of Alaska
Duties: Provides safety leadership, enforcing the Client’s Health, Safety, and
Environmental (HSE) policies, procedures and objectives to ensure that the design is
inherently safe, all risks are reduced to ALARP, and HSE requirements are satisfied **
Develops fire & gas system design, practices/philosophies and general specifications **
Ensures that appropriate design specifications and standards are being used in the design
process ** Ensures project design is consistent with the Company Integrity Management standards,
Guidance on Certification (GOC), and industry standards **
Evaluates and selects vendors and equipment ** Reviews fire & gas designs **
Peer reviews the automation design, coordinating with the Automation engineer **
Consults and coordinates with the Fire & Gas Technical Authority ** Provides consultation and problem resolution to Contractor and Client project team ** Assists in checkout, commissioning, and startup ** Provides safe, operable, and efficient Fire & Gas equipment design **
Identifies integration and infrastructure issues **
Reviews P&IDs, loop drawings, instrument specifications, and instrument selection as
they pertain to F&G issues **
Assists with the development of operating procedures and training **
Assists in checkout, pre-commissioning, and start-up activities **
Assists with performance tests and problem resolution **
Communicates and coordinates with Project Engineers.
Requirements: At least 5 years experience in relevant areas to include: fire & gas system design, construction, and project management ** BS in Electrical Engineering preferred ** PE in Alaska preferred ** Must possess excellent problem-analysis skills ** Excellent communication skills required ** Capable of exhibiting HSE leadership ** Competent in relationship management ** Effective at working with multi-discipline teams.
