Accounts Payable and Payroll Accountant
Position is responsible for all invoice processing and payments, payroll processing and reporting as well as related GL account reconciliations
Duties: Develops and documents accounts payable procedures and controls ** Receives and reviews check requests, invoices and related documents for completeness and compliance with financial policies, procedures and contractual requirements ** Matches original invoices and requests for payment with internal purchase orders, check requests, and documentation that verifies receipt of goods and services ** Codes or verifies coding performed by others and obtains approval for payment from appropriate staff members prior to entering accounts payable data into system ** Follows up on account statements and investigates discrepancies regarding payment of accounts and serves as liaison between department heads and vendors in the resolution of administrative problems and inquiries ** Ensures that historical data is accurately maintained ** Ensures that year-end 1099 tax reports are provided to vendors and employees in a timely manner ** Processes payroll to produce timely paychecks ** Monitors fringe deductions on earnings to change as conditions change or payroll actions are received ** Develops quarterly and annual payroll tax reports ** Performs year-end rollover of tax tables (federal and state) ** Produces annual dividends and 7(j) distributions ** Assists the controller in special accounting projects ** other duties as assigned.
Requirements: Five years of related experience ** Bachelor's degree in accounting preferred ** Knowledge of general accounting principles and standard accounts payable and payroll policies, procedures and regulations ** Ability to understand and interpret vendor invoices, statements, and other requests for payment ** Good data entry and word processing skills ** Strong written and interpersonal communication skills ** Ability to process data and generate reports ** Strong ability to analyze data and solve problems ** Ability to accurately computer and/or verify computations that include wage calculations, employee benefits calculations, tax deduction and tax deposit calculations ** Ability to maintain accurate and complete files and records ** Ability to exercise sound judgment, tact, discretion and initiative** Ability to build and maintain effective and productive working relationships ** Experience using Solomon (Microsoft Dynamics) software preferred.
